Astros beat Yankees, force Game Seven
The series between Houston and New York has been a wild one, and on Friday the Astros continued the trend of the home team winning every game. Led by another great performance from Justin Verlander and a big home run from Jose Altuve, the Astros won a relatively easy 7-1 game to tie the series at three. Of course, that means we are in for a winner-take-all game for Saturday night, to start at 8:00 PM. CC Sabathia will be going for the Yankees with Charlie Morton on the mound for Houston. The winner will go on to play the Dodgers in the World Series. Go Astros.
Dusty Baker is out in Washington
After two successful seasons in Washington with a couple of postseason appearances, Dusty Baker is not coming back to the Nationals for 2018. This was a surprising announcement on Friday, and frankly it seems a bit rash. Baker still carries the reputation he held a decade ago, but the has evolved some as a manager and did a fine job in Washington. He should get another chance in the majors at some point soon. As far as the Red Sox go, I’d still prefer Alex Cora, I think, but I certainly wouldn’t mind if they tried to squeeze an interview with Baker in. Whether it’s Boston or another team, though, this shouldn’t be the last time we see Baker as a major-league manager.
