Disclaimer: No, rest easy, David Ortiz is not being played in the outfield in mostly meaningless games right before the postseason. There is no cause for alarm.
All season long, David Ortiz has been receiving gifts and tributes from teams across the country as he’s made his final trips to the different parks of the league. Now, as he prepares for his final regular season at-bats in Fenway, his home for over a decade has prepared the biggest tribute of all:

Hats of to the Senior Director of Grounds Dave Mellor and crew over at Fenway Park. I don’t really have any clue how they managed to pull off that (I will, for the time being, assume sorcery is involved), but it’s damn sure impressive.
There will undoubtedly be more to come from the Red Sox and Fenway Park, even if this series against Toronto thankfully does not represent his last.
