Jackie Bradley Jr. is back in the lineup Tuesday night as the Red Sox try to get a rare win out of a Clay Buchholz start.
So that matchup doesn't look great. But lest we forget, the Red Sox actually would have won Clay Buchholz' last start largely thanks to Buchholz himself had the bullpen not failed to make good on his six innings of one-run work. And for all that Chris Archer has managed to get his ERA down from some really ugly heights, he still hasn't really had a good game against the Red Sox in 2016. Archer is 0-for-3 against the Sox this season, with 15 runs allowed in 16.2 innings of work.
Let me just do some math...um...yeah, that's not very good. Archer's done some good work against a few good teams of late, but also some pretty bad ones. And he hasn't handled the best offense in baseball yet, which is what the Sox are presenting him tonight with Jackie Bradley Jr. back in after a rare day off to give them their usual starting nine.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
