This game falls pretty solidly into "good teams have to win tough games" category in much the way yesterday did not. No team is really going to be prepared to take on a team in the Wild Card hunt nine hours after they get to their hotels, even if the Red Sox did put up a valiant fight for quite a while. But if they want to be the league's best offense, they have to be able to beat a Michael Fulmer, especially with Rick Porcello on the mound.
If they can't take this one, neither loss will exactly have been unexpected or unreasonable. But they show up in the standings all the same. So I would advise them to win.
Go Sox!
