The Red Sox have Xander Bogaerts back in the lineup and David Price on the mound as they try to pick up a series win against the Rays.
Actually a slightly interesting lineup choice for today, with Christian Vazquez in there again instead of Sandy Leon even though Vaquez started the night game yesterday. Starting a day game after a night game behind the plate isn't unheard of, but it's something the Red Sox have tended to avoid, and given the way Leon is hitting right now, it's surprising to see the Sox go out of their way to have Vazquez behind the plate. One can only imagine it's more about the man on the mound and getting him back on track after a rough outing than anything else.
Whoever he's throwing to, the Red Sox need Price to shake off his awful start against Texas and keep the momentum provided by Rick Porcello going. Granted, no matter what he does the next trip through the rotation's danger zone is on the horizon, but showing that Friday was just a blip on the radar after an eight-game stretch which saw him pitch to a 2.47 ERA and not a return to early-season form would be awfully nice.
First pitch is at 12:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
