Red Sox vs. Rangers lineups: Bryce Brentz starts in left field

It's Bryce Brentz time! Uh...yay? No, not yay at all.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

So it's come to this. Three injuries later, and Bryce Brentz is Boston's starting left fielder.

Lineup

BOSTON RED SOX TEXAS RANGERS
Mookie Betts, RF Shin-Soo Choo, RF
Dustin Pedroia, 2B Ian Desmond, CF
Xander Bogaerts, SS Adrian Beltre, 3B
David Ortiz, DH Ryan Rua, LF
Hanley Ramirez, 1B Prince Fielder, DH
Jackie Bradley Jr., CF Elvis Andrus, SS
Travis Shaw, 3B Rougned Odor, 2B
Christian Vazquez, C Jurickson Profar, 1B
Starting Pitcher -- David PriceS Bobby Wilson, C
Starting Pitcher -- Nick Martinez

On the bright side, while the Rangers are seemingly unstoppable at the moment, the Red Sox have actually pulled a relatively easy assignment on the mound in Nick Martinez. He holds a 4.30 career ERA with a 157:105 K:BB, and is making just his second MLB start of the season.

That being said, James Shields came dangerously close to shutting the Sox down yesterday, so who's to say? Still, not a bad matchup for David Price.

With Young out of the lineup, Hanley Ramirez is back up to fifth in the batting order. Travis Shaw is back in today, but remains down at eight behind even Brentz despite holding a .386 OBP over the last couple weeks. He's started trending back upwards--one just hopes the shin/ankle injury he's been dealing with doesn't derail that.

First pitch is at 8:05 P.M. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
