Red Sox vs. White Sox lineups: Hanley moves down

The beleaguered Hanley Ramirez finds himself batting seventh for the first time in many, many years.

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Hanley Ramirez is moving all the way down to seventh in the batting order Tuesday night, with Chris Young jumping up in his place against Jose Quintana and the White Sox.

Lineup

Xander Bogaerts, SS

Chris Young, LF
Jackie Bradley Jr., CF
Hanley Ramirez, 1B
Travis Shaw, 3B
Sandy Leon, C
Starting Pitcher -- Eduardo Rodriguez Starting Pitcher -- Jose Quintana

The case against Hanley has already been laid out on this corner of the internet within the past 12 hours, so we'll not rehash that too much. Suffice it to say he's not hitting nearly well enough to deserve the #5 spot. He still sticks above Shaw for now--whose presence in the lineup at all is a good sign after last night--but with Shaw having put together a solid run this past week, even that might not last much longer.

Whatever the case in the lineup, tonight is still all about the pitcher. The Red Sox are still looking for something positive from Eduardo Rodriguez. He's had a longer rest and an extra bullpen session now to figure things out, and perhaps something actionable to work on with a change in delivery. If he doesn't have anything to show for it, it's going to be past panic time for the team when it comes to the back end of their rotation.

First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN, WEEI, and the MLB Network.
