The Red Sox will have Rick Porcello on the mound Thursday night as they try to take three-of-four from the Orioles.
With the Kelly start--and, of course, loss--behind them, the Red Sox move on to a much better pitching matchup. Which is to say, any of their other pitchers against Ubaldo Jimenez. Once upon a time, Jimenez was one of the best in the business. An arm to be feared, and rarely the sort you'd expect to beat on any given night.
But that hasn't been the case in years, and right now, the Red Sox might just be one of the last teams to see him in an Orioles uniform. He's rocking a 6.36 ERA right now, with some pretty ugly peripherals to go with it. He has the feeling of a pitcher on the brink, and the Red Sox are very much the sort of lineup that might just push him over.
First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
