Red Sox vs. Mariners lineups: Sox need more than a win

The Red Sox need to win games, and not just today.

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox are in serious need of a win, and not just one as they send Rick Porcello to the mound against the Mariners.

Make no mistake--the Sox seriously need to take one from the M's today. If they manage to get shut down by a guy making his MLB debut, things might start getting a little ugly. But one win just isn't what the Red Sox are really looking for right now. They're at the point where they need to start a streak and keep it going. The sort they haven't really put together in a long, long time.

Is Rick Porcello the top guy you want on the mound for that? Nope. Hardly matters. They're going to have to go through their entire rotation and find wins throughout if they want to go on that streak. They're going to have to win in games where they give up five runs before the seventh. They're going to have to win games where the offense can only score three or four times, too.

Lately, they haven't been doing nearly enough of either.

First pitch is at 4:05 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
