Sox Prospects has the breakdown on Jason Groome, the Red Sox's first round pick from last night's draft. (Will Woodward; Sox Prospects)

Groome grew up a Sox fan, and was visibly selected when Boston made the pick. (Ryan Hannable; WEEI)

Now, we head back to Sox Prospects for the breakdown of CJ Chatham, the team's second selection. (John Gray; Sox Prospects)

On the other end of the spectrum, the current iteration of the Red Sox are getting contributions from some players over double the age of last night's draftees. (Peter Abraham; Boston Globe)

One of those guys is David Ortiz, who unfortunately will not be participating in the Home Run Derby. (Henry McKenna; Boston.com)

Speaking of Ortiz, he's as annoyed by a two-game west-coast trip as we are. (Michael Silverman; Boston Herald)

Carl Willis had a lot to learn after taking over as Boston's pitching coach, not the least of which was how to deal with a knuckleballer like Steven Wright. (Tim Britton; Providence Journal)

Rich Hill has been thought of as a possible trade target for the Red Sox, but he just hit the disabled list with a groin injury. (Jen McCaffrey; Masslive)
