Red Sox minor lines: Blake Swihart fights back

Blake Swihart has been having a rough go of things in the minors, but a good outing on Monday might be the start of his resurgence at the plate.

Pawtucket W 5-0

Deven Marrero: 1-5
Marco Hernandez: 3-5, 2B, K
Blake Swihart: 3-4, 2B, BB
Sam Travis: 2-5, 2 2B, 2 K
Rusney Castillo: 0-4, BB, 2 K
Sean Coyle: 0-4, 2 K

Unfortunately, we don't get a follow-up to this act (or a Carson Smith rehab outing) thanks to bad weather postponing Tuesday's game. But what we did get gives us Blake Swihart getting back into the swing of things after a cold spell. He'd been just 5-for-31 since being sent back down, and even with a few walks mixed in, it's not hard to imagine the demotion ended up hitting him a little hard. Hopefully he's ready to fight back now. While Christian Vazquez is putting on a tour de force behind the plate, he's not even reaching Jackie Bradley Jr. levels of offense right now.

And hey, there's Marco Hernandez continuing to push the agenda that he might be just the lefty the Sox need on their bench in Boston. He, like Swihart, is getting some work in left field, though realistically he also provides depth there simply by being able to keep Brock Holt from having to cover an infield role.

Portland L 4-6

Wendell Rijo: 0-3, BB, K

Kevin McAvoy: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 BB, 1 K

Portland L 2-3

Wendell Rijo: 0-4, 3 K

Teddy Stankiewicz: 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Luis Ysla: 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

At this point, Rijo is pretty much only on here because I need someone in the lineup.

One ugly start from McAvoy. That's the sort of night which makes you wonder if he just didn't have it, or if there's something more concerning at play physically. Stankiewicz' outing wasn't exactly brilliant, but it certainly wasn't anywhere near as concerning as that mess.

Salem L 1-4

Yoan Moncada: 1-4, 3 K
Mauricio Dubon: 0-4, K
Andrew Benintendi: 2-4
Nick Longhi: 0-4, K
Rafael Devers: 0-4, K

Yankory Pimentel: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

After picking up just one strikeout in his first five games, Yoan Moncada has quietly been racking them up of late, and in fact has had at least one in every game since that early stretch. It's been easy to ignore, though, since he's also had at least one hit in every game since his second of the year. I suppose you'd take that tradeoff, but it's pretty hard to sustain in the long run.

Greenville L 1-3

Josh Ockimey: 0-3, BB, 2 K
Kyri Washington: 2-4, 2 2B
Luis Alexander Basabe: 0-3
Austin Rei: 0-3, 2 K

Roniel Raudes: 3.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

Kyri "Wily Mo" Washington continues to hit balls very hard and do little else. There are worse things to be known for
