Red Sox vs. Tigers lineups: Travis Shaw returns to third

It's Travis Shaw time in Detroit!

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox will have Travis Shaw back at third base Friday night as they kick off a series against the Tigers in Detroit.

BOSTON RED SOX DETROIT TIGERS

Rusney Castillo - RF Jose Iglesias - SS
Xander Bogaerts - SS Ian Kinsler - 2B
David Ortiz - DH Victor Martinez - DH
Hanley Ramirez - LF J.D. Martinez - RF
Mike Napoli - 1B Tyler Collins - LF
Travis Shaw - 3B Nick Castellanos - 3B

Joe Kelly - RHP Daniel Norris - LHP

I figure I'm in pretty much the same place as everyone else when it comes to Pablo Sandoval, in that I've got no idea what the Red Sox should do with him. I don't know if he needs days off or more playing time. A trip to first base or to stay at third base. All I know is it's not terribly enjoyable to be reminded of the problem he presents, and that I'll generally welcome the opportunity for a night off from that when it's presented.

It doesn't hurt that Travis Shaw can have some big nights as well. He's hitting .417/.462/.708 in his 24 at bats this season, which is clearly indicative of his true talent level and not at all due for regression so long as we live in a world where all of our dreams come true and none of the Yankees fans' do.

If only...

First pitch is at 7:08 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
