Red Sox minor lines: Slow days on the farm system

The Red Sox minor league teams haven't exactly been at their best this past week.

Pawtucket L 0-4

Marco Hernandez: 0-4
Garin Cecchini: 2-4, 2B
Deven Marrero: 1-4, 2B, K

Good news: Garin Cecchini's batting average is up 40 points in the past month! Bad news: It started at .188!

Portland L 1-10

Carlos Asuaje: 1-4, K, SB
Sam Travis: 1-2, 2 BB, SB

Justin Haley: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Might be time for Justin Haley to hit the ol' bullpen.

Salem W 3-2

Kevin McAvoy: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 7 K

Alright, guys, from now on instead of bothering with Salem, I just want you all to assume that there was a middling pitching prospect who put up a performance that ranged from bad to mediocre. Maybe I'll check back in on Stankiewicz days. Maybe.

Lowell L 2-7

Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-4, 2 K
Andrew Benintendi: 0-4
Victor Acosta: 2-4, 2B, K
Josh Ockimey: 0-3, BB, 3 K
Tate Matheny: 0-4
Mitchell Gunsolus: 1-3, BB, K

I know I've said a million times that short-season numbers don't matter all that much, but it would've been nice to see a bit more from Tate Matheny. After all, he is very much not the sort of player you dream on, meaning the foundation should be better than this given that he's a fourth-round pick.

We'll see.

GCL Red Sox W 7-4

Yoan Aybar: 0-5, 2 K
