Red Sox vs. Yankees lineups: Henry Owens debuts

Happy Honk day! Hopefully...

Jonathan Dyer-USA TODAY Sports

Henry Owens will make his first MLB start Tuesday night in New York as the Red Sox take on the Yankees.

Today's Lineups

BOSTON RED SOX NEW YORK YANKEES
Brock Holt - 2B Jacoby Ellsbury - CF
Xander Bogaerts - SS Chris Young - LF
David Ortiz - DH Alex Rodriguez - DH
Hanley Ramirez - LF Mark Teixeira - 1B
Pablo Sandoval - 3B Brian McCann - C
Mike Napoli - 1B Carlos Beltran - RF
Alejandro De Aza - RF Chase Headley - 3B
Blake Swihart - C Didi Gregorius - SS
Jackie Bradley - CF Brendan Ryan - 2B
Henry Owens - LHP Masahiro Tanaka - RHP

With Owens on the mound, Blake Swihart becomes the obvious choice to start behind the plate, given their role as teammates earlier in the year. Hanigan is the more experienced defensive catcher, yes, but given the personal enormity of a debut, maximizing familiarity and comfort takes priority.

Also present is Pablo Sandoval, making his return to the starting lineup after a few games out with injury. Sad to say, but after Travis Shaw's big game, most would probably consider this bad news for the Red Sox.

First pitch is at 7:05 pm with broadcasts on NESN, the MLB Network, and WEEI.
