Red Sox vs. White Sox lineups: Light at the end of the tunnel?

It's not over yet, but maybe there's relief ahead?

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

There's good news, friends, but it's not in the lineup. Not yet, at least.

BOSTON RED SOX CHICAGO WHITE SOX
Mookie Betts - CF Adam Eaton - CF
Pablo Sandoval - 3B Melky Cabrera - LF
Xander Bogaerts - SS Jose Abreu - 1B
David Ortiz - DH Avisail Garcia - DH
Travis Shaw - 1B Trayce Thompson - RF
Hanley Ramirez - LF Alexei Ramirez - SS
Ryan Hanigan - C Geovany Soto - C
Jackie Bradley - RF Carlos Sanchez - 2B
Josh Rutledge - 2B Gordon Beckham - 3B
Wade Miley - LHP Jose Quintana - LHP

I know (almost) everyone is thoroughly depressed about Don Orsillo's impending departure, and that another game with a super-hot player like Rusney Castillo benched because, well, veteran preference and stubbornness and all those other things does not help, but hurt.

But there is news! There is reason to hope! My friends, there are pictures of Hanley Ramirez playing first base!

It's like the sight of a distant ship to a stranded sailor. Perhaps something will come of this, perhaps the Red Sox are just taunting us. But it's something, and it's the first something we've had in about a month now in this saga, excepting the arrival of Dave Dombrowski.

Hope...

First pitch is at 8:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
