The return to the Bradley - Betts - Castillo outfield was short lived, as the Red Sox will once again have Hanley Ramirez back in left field Monday night against the White Sox.
Sigh
I'll leave that as the entirety of my commentary on the outfield situation. You know where I stand by now, and if you don't, it's been written here often enough that it won't be hard to find.
Speaking of dead horses that require no further beating, Joe Kelly is on the mound tonight! At the very least he's had a good couple of weeks now, so the possibility for a positive outing exists. I don't think there's any end to the season Kelly can manage that will make him a starter rather than a reliever, at least in my mind, but even in that case the worst he can do by performing well is convince some GM out there that now is the time to buy low!
Or...or he can convince Dombrowski. Oh God. Oh God, please no. I can't go through another year of Joe Kelly, starting pitcher.
First pitch is at 8:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
