Red Sox minor lines: Catching up

Let's avoid getting too far behind...

Typically I like to get these up before the first game of the day starts. So 10 minutes before midnight and after a full extra day of games is, uh...late. But it's either this, or an over-packed triple-duty minor lines in the morning. That seems a bit much, so I choose this.

Pawtucket L 1-2 (In 13)

Deven Marrero: 0-5, 2 K
Allen Craig: 2-6, 3 K
Garin Cecchini: 1-4, BB
Marco Hernandez: 1-5, 2B, K, E

Matt Barnes: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
Noe Ramirez: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

Pawtucket W 8-7

Deven Marrero: 3-4, HR, BB
Allen Craig: 0-3, 2 BB, 3 K
Garin Cecchini: 1-4, 2 K
Marco Hernandez: 1-4, HR, 2 K

Heath Hembree: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Pat Light: 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K

It shouldn't be too controversial to suggest that Deven Marrero hasn't exactly sparkled in Pawtucket. 2014 was either going to prove itself to be a breakout year, or look like a flash in the pan. With his OPS down nearly 140 points from its Portland peak, it certainly seems like the latter. But at the very least, he's showing off a surprising amount of power this year. That homer is his fifth on the season--one shy of his 2014 total in 200 fewer at bats.

Portland L 4-9

Manuel Margot: 1-4, 2B, BB, 2 K
Carlos Asuaje: 0-3
Sam Travis: 1-5, 2B, CS

Justin Haley: 6 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 HR

Portland L 2-3

Carlos Asuaje: 1-4, 2B, BB, 3 K
Sam Travis: 1-3, BB, K

Williams Jerez: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Salem W 5-1

Kevin McAvoy: 5 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR

Salem W 11-3

Daniel McGrath: 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 1 HR

Salem has plenty of interesting arms in the rotation, but between Ball, Stankiewicz, McAvoy, McGrath, and Buttrey, Stankiewicz is the only one with better than a 2:1 K:BB. Right now it's a collection of guys with the potential for promise more than actual promise, if you get my seemingly redundant meaning.

Greenville W 4-2

Yoan Moncada: 0-3, BB
Michael Chavis: 1-4, K
Rafael Devers: 1-4, 2B, K
Nick Longhi: 0-4, E
Javier Guerra: 2-4, 2B, K

Greenville W 6-2

Yoan Moncada: 3-6, 2 2B, SB, CS
Rafael Devers: 1-5, 2B, 2 K
Javier Guerra: 2-4, K

Two strikeouts in two games feels like it's about par for the course for Javier Guerra, but he's actually got his K-rate down from 32.1% in the first half to 21.4% in the second. A pretty important improvement if he's going to make good on his suddenly skyrocketing stock.

Lowell W 9-3

Luis Alexander Basabe: 2-4, 2B, 2 K
Tate Matheny: 0-4, 2 K
Victor Acosta: 2-4, 2B, BB
Kyri Washington: 1-5, 3B, 4 K
Tucker Tubbs: 1-5, K
Austin Rei: 1-5, 2B, 4 K

Lowell W 5-4

Luis Alexander Basabe: 0-5, 2 K
Victor Acosta: 1-4, BB, 2 K
Tate Matheny: 0-4, K
Josh Ockimey: 4-4, 2B, 2 3B
Mitchell Gunsolus: 1-3, BB, K

Short-season slash lines are fun. From .250/.327/.365 to .280/.351/.440 in one game. A productive night, yeah?

GCL Red Sox W 1-0 (In 7)

Yoan Aybar: 0-2, 2 K
