Travis Shaw will get the start at third base Saturday afternoon as the Red Sox try to take a weekend series win against the Rays.
Somehow I don't think this is quite what Ben Cherington meant yesterday when he said he would be talking with John Farrell and the coaching staff about how to best use the remaining two months of the season to evaluate their players and how they might fit into the team's plans for 2016. Perhaps between the deadline and the night-game-into-day-game schedule they just haven't been able to get together. But time's a-wastin' and I will not rest until they've figured out what the hell they can do with Hanley Ramirez next year.
Because man, left field ain't an option.
First pitch is at 1:35 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
