Pawtucket L 0-4
Daniel Nava: 0-2, BB
Rusney Castillo: 1-1
Allen Craig: 0-4, K
Joe Kelly: 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 7 K
Pawtucket L 4-12
Jackie Bradley Jr.: 2-4
Rusney Castillo: 0-4, 4 K
Allen Craig: 1-4, 2 K
Garin Cecchini: 1-4, K
Keith Couch: 5 IP, 10 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 2 HR
Pat Light: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 0 K
Anyone got any snappy "Kelly to the bullpen" chants I can use? Signs? We can put them on signs and march around Fenway until someone tells us to leave.
Portland L 4-11
Sam Travis: 1-4, BB, K
Carlos Asuaje: 2-4
Manuel Margot: 1-4, K
Portland L 2-5
Carlos Asuaje: 0-4, 2 K
Sam Travis: 1-4
Manuel Margot: 1-3, BB, K
Manuel Margot is actually putting up strikeouts consistently these past few games, but he's also hit successfully in 9-of-10, so it's hard to get too worried over a rare K spike, particularly given how low his rates usually are.
Salem L 1-5
Wendell Rijo: 3-4, HR, K
Trey Ball: 4.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Salem W 3-0 (In 7)
Wendell Rijo: 0-4, 2 K
Teddy Stankiewicz: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K
Salem L 0-15
Wendell Rijo: 0-4, K
Kevin McAvoy: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 K
Kevin McAvoy didn't make it last, but Trey Ball had another solid day and Teddy Stankiewicz had his first really exceptional start in a while. The bigger names in Salem's rotation are trending positively.
Greenville W 4-3
Yoan Moncada: 1-4, 3B
Michael Chavis: 0-4, 2 K
Nick Longhi: 0-3
Greenville L 1-3
Yoan Moncada: 2-3, BB, SB
Michael Chavis: 0-3, BB, K, SB, E
Rafael Devers: 0-4
Nick Longhi: 0-3
Javier Guerra: 1-4, K
Has Yoan Moncada shaken gotten up to speed? I hesitate to jump to any conclusions since Greenville's prospects seem to have switched back and forth between hot and cold in the blink of an eye, but he does have a .324/.410/.441 batting line so far in the second half (nine games).
Lowell W 2-1
Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-3, BB, K
Andrew Benintendi: 2-4, K
Victor Acosta: 0-4, K
Josh Ockimey: 1-4, 2 K
Mitchell Gunsolus: 1-4, K
Lowell W 6-5
Mitchell Gunsolus: 1-4, K, SB
Andrew Benintendi: 2-4, HR, K, SB
Josh Ockimey: 1-4, 2B, 3 K
Tucker Tubbs: 1-4, 2 K
Necessary buzzkill time: that the guy who won just about every conceivable player of the year award this season in college ball is off too a good start in Lowell is not exactly a surprise.
Now that that's out of the way...Benintendi gets his first homer in a Red Sox uniform in just his second game. The biggest question mark for the former Razorback was likely whether or not his 2015 surge and the power that came with it was for real. There's a lot of reason to think so--mainly that it's not all that surprising given how he was playing before his freshman year of college brought injury with it--but seeing Benintendi pick up a wood bat and immediately start producing is at the very least reassuring.
GCL Red Sox L 3-4
Trent Kemp: 0-2, 2 K
Yoan Aybar: 1-6, K
