Red Sox vs. Rays lineup: Sandoval, Ramirez sit on deadline day

Who cares? Trades trades trades trade trades!

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez will sit out on deadline day after each had unfortunate run-ins with baseballs in Thursday night's series finale against the White Sox.

TAMPA BAY RAYS BOSTON RED SOX
Brandon Guyer - CF Brock Holt - 2B
Steven Souza - RF Xander Bogaerts - SS
Evan Longoria - 3B David Ortiz - DH
Logan Forsythe - 1B Mike Napoli - 1B
Joey Butler - DH Alejandro De Aza - LF
Asdrubal Cabrera - SS Rusney Castillo - RF
Tim Beckham - 2B Blake Swihart - C
Mikie Mahtook - LF Jackie Bradley - CF
Curt Casali - C Josh Rutledge - 3B
Erasmo Ramirez - RHP Eduardo Rodriguez - LHP

These lineups are, of course, subject to change. With just 30 minutes to go until the trade deadline--and then probably a good hour-plus of time for news to leak in about deals coming in under the wire--there's every chance a couple of these players will not be here by game time. Alejandro De Aza in particular seemed likely to find his way to another team, while the simple presence of Mike Napoli on the roster in August will probably leave me dead of an aneurysm.

Looking forward to that.

One way or another, though, Eduardo Rodriguez will likely be the man taking the mound tonight. It's been a strange season from the young lefty, who has scattered a few disasters in with mostly excellent starts. He's coming off a good one, and usually is good for more than one positive outing in a row. Let's just hope that with all the trade madness going on, the Sox found time to keep him vigilant with that whole "pitch tipping" issue that seems likely to be at the root of his problems on the mound.

First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
