The Red Sox will continue their pursuit of their first second-half win Saturday night as Brock Holt gets his first start since the All-Star break.
Not long ago, the Red Sox seemed on the verge of shutting down Rick Porcello after three disappointing months with the team. But circumstances conspired to push him right back into the rotation before he could even really be skipped, and with one decent start against Miami behind him and the Sox still very thin on pitching, he seems to have a little more leash to work with again before the team looks to retool again.
No matter whether Porcello is his 2014 or 2015 self, he won't have any hope of coming away with a win if the Red Sox hit like they did last night. They have their lone All-Star Brock Holt back in the lineup in place of Mike Napoli tonight, which can't hurt, but they weren't just one man removed from a decent performance on Friday. The bats that had them rolling earlier in the month need to wake up again.
First pitch is at 9:05 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN, the MLB Network, and WEEI.
