Red Sox minor lines: A short night for Michael Kopech

With 55 pitches already on his arm, Michael Kopech couldn't make it out of the second. But it wasn't entirely his fault...

Pawtucket L 2-3

Jackie Bradley Jr.: 2-4, 2B
Deven Marrero: 1-4
Travis Shaw: 2-4
Allen Craig: 0-4, K
Bryce Brentz: 1-3, HR, BB, A
Garin Cecchini: 0-4, 2 K

Keith Couch: 7 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR

Pawtucket L 1-5

Jackie Bradley Jr.: 1-4, SB
Deven Marrero: 0-3, BB, CS
Travis Shaw: 0-2, 2 BB, K
Bryce Brentz: 1-3, BB
Garin Cecchini: 0-2, 2 BB, K

Bryce Brentz seems to have plenty of positive days, but then you go and check and he's hitting .239/.317/.389 on the season. I'm probably the last person to make the jump, here, but it's probably about time to give up and move on from this particular first round pick.

Portland L 3-4

Carlos Asuaje: 1-3, 3B, K

Justin Haley: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K
Pat Light: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

Portland W 4-3

Carlos Asuaje: 2-5

Asuaje breaks an 0-for-14 slump with a couple decent games. Good news, too. Portland needs all the quality it can get.

(This is where Salem would be if they completed more than two innings in the last two days)

Greenville L 4-9

Rafael Devers: 0-3, BB
Nick Longhi: 2-3, 2 2B, BB
Yoan Moncada: 1-3, BB, 2 E
Javier Guerra: 1-4, E, CS
Michael Chavis: 1-4, 3 K

Michael Kopech: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, E
Williams Jerez: 3 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR

Greenville L 3-5

Nick Longhi: 1-4, 2B
Yoan Moncada: 0-3, BB
Javier Guerra: 0-4, 2 K
Michael Chavis: 1-4

That Kopech and Jerez allowed seven runs without a single one of them being earned should give you an idea of just what was going on in Greenville. Unfortunately, all the errors were committed by prospects of note, with Moncada now having committed six in just 12 games played. But at least it wasn't a complete disaster day on the mound for one of the system's more exciting pitchers like the short outing and score might suggest.
