Jackie Bradley Jr. is back with the Red Sox, and they're not leaving him to rot on the bench this time. With Hanley Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia both missing after suffering injuries in Wednesday night's game, Bradley will take over in right field, shifting Alejandro De Aza to left and Brock Holt to second base as the Sox try to take a series win against the Orioles.
Also playing: Blake Swihart, who's finally making his return to the lineup after spraining his foot in Kansas City. With Swihart back in action, at least one of the roster spots will likely come at the expense of Erik Kratz, with the Red Sox not interested in carrying three catchers anytime soon. It seems now like another will come from a DL move for Dustin Pedroia, with the Red Sox having listed Hanley, but not Pedroia on their lineup card.
So there's good news on the one front, but not the other, and it's especially depressing given just how good Dustin Pedroia has been this year. His return to form has been one of those few bright spots this season has needed so desperately. There's no official word yet, but for now, it doesn't look good for Dustin Pedroia.
First pitch is at 1:35 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
