The Red Sox were riding high for a very little bit there. Now, after a fifth-inning meltdown left them 7-4 losers on Saturday night, they're just trying to get back into the win column behind Wade Miley.

BOSTON RED SOX KANSAS CITY ROYALS
Mookie Betts - CF Alcides Escobar - SS
Brock Holt - 3B Lorenzo Cain - CF
Dustin Pedroia - 2B Eric Hosmer - 1B
David Ortiz - DH Kendrys Morales - DH
Hanley Ramirez - LF Alex Gordon - LF
Xander Bogaerts - SS Alex Rios - RF
Mike Napoli - 1B Omar Infante - 2B
Alejandro De Aza - RF Christian Colon - 3B
Sandy Leon - C Drew Butera - C
Wade Miley - LHP Chris Young - RHP

Both Pablo Sandoval and Blake Swihart are absent after injuring themselves in Saturday's game. Swihart would likely have missed out anyways, given that it's a day game after a night game, but apparently he's walking around the clubhouse with a limp, so it's possible we'll see a disabled list move before too long, leaving the Red Sox officially on their fourth and fifth string catcher for the season.

Even with two starters missing, Rusney Castillo still can't find his way into the lineup, with Holt remaining on the infield and De Aza sticking in right. On the bright side, though, this outfield configuration wasn't part of the problem last time out, with all three of Betts, Ramirez, and De Aza notching multiple hits in the 7-4 loss.

First pitch is at 2:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
