The Red Sox will have Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound Sunday afternoon as they try to end their five-game losing streak.
The Red Sox' current losing streak may have begun with a game started by Eduardo Rodriguez, but that doesn't mean it was Eduardo Rodriguez who got their losing streak started. Even without his best stuff, the young lefty turned in six scoreless innings against the Orioles, with the offense unable to score even a single run in what was ultimately a 1-0 defeat. Three starts into his major league career, and he's still allowed all of one run.
It won't always be this good. There's no such thing as a 0.44 ERA starting pitcher in baseball. But right now the Rodriguez start every fifth game is just about all we Red Sox fans get to look forward to. Hopefully at what is pretty clearly this season's darkest hour to date, he'll still be a bright spot.
First pitch is at 1:35 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
