Red Sox minor lines: Javier Guerra's power trip

Javier Guerra's June just got a lot more explosive.

Pawtucket W 3-2 (In 12)

Jackie Bradley Jr.: 2-2, 2 2B, 2 BB, POCS, A
Travis Shaw: 2-5
Garin Cecchini: 0-5, K
Deven Marrero: 0-4, BB, K
Sean Coyle: 1-4, 2B, BB, K, CS

Keith Couch: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Edwin Escobar: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Noe Ramirez: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

Pawtucket W 7-5

Jackie Bradley Jr.: 2-5
Travis Shaw: 2-4, BB
Allen Craig: 2-3, HR, BB
Deven Marrero: 2-3, 2B, 2 E
Sean Coyle: 0-4, 3 K

Brian Johnson: 7 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
Pat Light: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

Allen Craig's brief slump is put to an emphatic end, and Jackie Bradley Jr. can do little wrong in the minors. The rest of the Paw Sox lineup is by-and-large struggling this season, but the players who are trying to get back to the Majors rather than make the jump for the first time are by-and-large killing it.

As for Brian Johnson...well, this was a really strange outing. His line reads better than it is in some regards since he also hit two batters in the four-run fifth inning that really cost him, but of course he should have been out of the inning already at that point with Marrero's error costing him a leadoff baserunner. Of course, Johnson has probably earned the benefit of the doubt by this point with that ERA still sitting at 2.51 two months into the season.

Portland L 7-8

Carlos Asuaje: 1-4, 2B

Portland W 4-3 (In 11)

Carlos Asuaje: 1-6

It's been a pretty miserable start to June for arguably the only interesting position player in Portland. A .567 OPS on the month has dragged his season numbers down a fair bit, and his start wasn't really strong enough to absorb much more of a hit than it has.

Salem W 4-2

Manuel Margot: 3-4
Sam Travis: 4-4, 2B, HR
Wendell Rijo: 0-4, K

Salem W 1-0

Manuel Margot: 0-3
Sam Travis: 0-3, BB, 2 K

Ty Buttrey: 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Well, Saturday's game didn't really keep up the narratives from Friday's, but even with the 0-for, Sam Travis is hitting .312

Greenville W 10-8

Rafael Devers: 1-4, K
Nick Longhi: 1-3, BB
Yoan Moncada: 1-3, 2B, BB
Javier Guerra: 2-4, 2 HR
Michael Chavis: 1-3, 2B, BB, K

Greenville L 2-4

Nick Longhi: 0-3, BB, K
Yoan Moncada: 0-3, BB, 2 K
Javier Guerra: 0-3, BB
Michael Chavis: 0-3, BB, K

Michael Kopech: 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Seven homers now for Javier Guerra, who's even showing some improvement in the strikeout category to start June. The thing is, while Guerra was certainly considered a breakout candidate coming into this year, with some hope that there was power in his future, but I don't think anyone quite had this in mind.
