Red Sox vs. Blue Jays lineups: Here we go again

Mercy, please

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

It seems a special sort of cruel that the Red Sox have a day game today. The difference between this and your average night game might be just over five hours, but man, after a collapse like yesterday's, we could really use those extra few hours to recover.

But the schedule is merciless, and so here we are. No Mookie (no surprise given his collision with the wall last night), no Napoli, and everything a mess. Just in general.

TORONTO BLUE JAYS BOSTON RED SOX
Jose Reyes - SS Dustin Pedroia - 2B
Josh Donaldson - 3B Brock Holt - 1B
Jose Bautista - RF Hanley Ramirez - LF
Edwin Encarnacion - DH David Ortiz - DH
Chris Colabello - LF Xander Bogaerts - SS
Russell Martin - C Pablo Sandoval - 3B
Justin Smoak - 1B Alejandro De Aza - RF
Kevin Pillar - CF Rusney Castillo - CF
Ryan Goins - 2B Sandy Leon - C
R.A. Dickey - RHP Clay Buchholz - RHP

Clay Buchholz is one of the more reliable pitchers on this team...and that's about as positive as I can get today. Eduardo Rodriguez is tomorrow. There we go, we've found the line. A bright spot is on the horizon. We've just got to get through this one.

(The thought has occurred to me that Rodriguez will not always be quite so amazing. If, knock on wood, tomorrow ends up being the inevitable first stumble, well, that would be a lot more bearable if it came after at least a better game than we had last night. God knows they can hardly be worse--losing 20-0 would probably be better than giving up an 8-1 lead in many respects. But just look normal and competitive, please. We're owed at least that much.)

First pitch, for those who can still bear to watch, is at 1:35 p.m. with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
