Xander Bogaerts will move all the way up to third in the lineup Friday night as the Red Sox hope Joe Kelly can help them snap a three-game losing streak against the Toronto Blue Jays.
It's a bump Xander has earned by virtue of an excellent .389/.421/.472 start to June--one which has arguably made him one of the few Red Sox legitimately in any sort of All-Star conversation. It's not likely to be permanent, however, as the slot is only being vacated for the night by Hanley Ramirez. It is perhaps worth mentioning that Ramirez looked to be favoring his left knee at times last night, but for now this is just rest rather than an indication of anything greater.
With Hanley off, Brock Holt will take over in left, continuing to bat second as he often has this past week.
First pitch is at 7:10 pm ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
