The Red Sox will have Wade Miley on the mound Thursday night as they try to avoid following their sweep of the Oakland Athletics with a sweep at the hands of the Baltimore Orioles.
The Sox seem to have a habit of following up their best performances with their worst this season, and this series is entirely too reminiscent of the late-May series against the Twins. Coming off two games against the Angels that saw the Red Sox look like a legitimate baseball team for basically the first time all month, they immediately dropped all three in Minnesota. Now they're set to do the same in Baltimore after sweeping the Athletics in Fenway.
The only man that stands in the way (unless the offense wants to show up for once) is Wade Miley, who has mostly been money for a month now. He's still working off his early-season disasters again Washington and, well, the Orioles. Which isn't the most encouraging bit of history in the world, but there you go.
First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
