Travis Shaw: 1-3, HR, BB
Allen Craig: 2-2, HR, 2 BB
Bryce Brentz: 0-4, 2 K
Deven Marrero: 0-3

Pawtucket L 1-5
Jackie Bradley Jr.: 3-4, BB
Travis Shaw: 2-3, HR, BB, K
Allen Craig: 0-3, BB, K
Garin Cecchini: 1-4, K
Deven Marrero: 0-4
Justin Masterson: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
Noe Ramirez: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
The prevailing opinion is that Justin Masterson needs to actually earn his spot in the rotation coming off of "injury" rather than just having it handed to him. If that's the case, and if this first outing is any indication, we may have seen the last of him in Boston. Three walks show the control problems are still very much there--no surprise that a career-long problem hasn't disappeared overnight--but more importantly, he was actually apparently coming in slightly lower in terms of velocity than he had been with Boston. No thanks.
The other major league castoffs seem to be enjoying success, though. Jackie Bradley Jr. is now sporting a .352 average, while Allen Craig was on an eight-game hitting streak before that 0-for-3 night, with a .328/.431/.443 batting line. There's hope for them yet!
Portland L 2-8
Carlos Asuaje: 0-3
Portland L 0-2
Carlos Asuaje: 0-3, BB
Asuaje really can't buy a hit these days, but aside from that one hat trick he hasn't struck out during this slump. They'll start falling again at some point.
Salem L 1-3
Manuel Margot: 1-4, K
Sam Travis: 3-4, 2B, SB
Wendell Rijo: 0-3, BB, 2 K
Salem W 6-5
Sam Travis: 0-5
Kevin McAvoy: 5.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Manuel Margot's return to action is not exactly triumphant, but it's good to have him back in the lineup. Salem needs him to lead the way in terms of interesting prospects.
Greenville W 11-4
Rafael Devers: 1-5, K
Yoan Moncada: 2-5, 2B, HR, K, SB
Michael Chavis: 1-4, HR, 3 K, E
Greenville W 15-0
Rafael Devers: 2-5, HR, K
Nick Longhi: 4-4, HR, BB
Javier Guerra: 1-5, HR, 2 K
Michael Chavis: 1-5, 2B, K, CS
Rafael Devers finally gets back on the home run board nearly a month after his two-bomb game, and keeps a 12-game hit streak alive in the process. Yoan Moncada shows signs of life, though it's unfortunate he didn't get a chance to reinforce them with another big day on Sunday. But nobody had the day Nick Longhi had. It's been slow going for Longhi so far this season, but hopefully this signals the start of something big for the young Springfield native.
