Xander Bogaerts is back in the lineup Sunday afternoon as the Red Sox try to salvage a series split against the Rangers in Arlington.
Bogaerts missed Saturday's game with soreness in the wrist/hand area after being hit by a pitch back on Thursday. The good news is that both scans and his presence in the lineup today suggest that's nothing serious, since the last thing the Red Sox need is an injury to their shortstop.
The real focus today will be on Joe Kelly, however. A brilliant outing from Eduardo Rodriguez put the rotation on notice, and with replacement man Steven Wright turning in another solid-if-unspectacular start, that leaves Joe Kelly the next man on the Red Sox rotation's chopping block. Another bad start, and he might not see another trip through the rotation, shuffled off into the bullpen (be it in Boston or Pawtucket) where many expect he would thrive.
First pitch is at 3:05 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
