Red Sox minor lines: Yoan Moncada debuts

The Yoan Moncada era is underway, if not with a bang.

Pawtucket W 7-4

Allen Craig: 2-5, K
Bryce Brentz: 1-3, HR, 2 BB
Travis Shaw: 1-3, 2 BB
Garin Cecchini: 1-4, BB, K

Eduardo Rodriguez: 6.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Heath Hembree: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

Rusney Castillo's absence from the lineup put Red Sox fans on the lookout for a callup last night. Nothing doing so far, but there's still plenty of time before tonight's first pitch for that to change, and plenty of reason to want him in the lineup after some pitiful offensive performances out west.

Fun fact: In a year where the Red Sox seem to have a lot of guys struggling in the three true outcomes department, this is Eduardo Rodriguez' worst start peripherally speaking. Two walks and four strikeouts both match his single-game highs. If it weren't for that five-inning, four-run game a couple weeks back, it would be his worst outing in every regard. All from a pretty run-of-the-mill quality start.

Greenville L 11-13

Rafael Devers: 2-4, 2 2B, BB
Nick Longhi: 1-4, 2 K
Yoan Moncada: 0-3, BB, E
Michael Chavis: 1-4, HR

Alright, so no fireworks right out of the gate for Yoan Moncada, who put the ball on the ground in each of his three at bats. I guess we'll hold off on the promotion talk for now. But given where scouts seemed to expect him to land level-wise, it's hard to imagine his stay in Greenville will last too long.
