Pawtucket L 0-6
Rusney Castillo: 1-2, 2 SB
Garin Cecchini: 0-2
Bryce Brentz: 1-3, BB, K
Allen Craig: 1-3, A
Travis Shaw: 1-4
Deven Marrero: 2-4, K, 2 E
Eduardo Rodriguez: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
Rusney Castillo left the game early on after hurting his ankle at second base. John Farrell called it a "minor sprain" before last night's game against the Athletics, so hopefully it doesn't keep him out for long, if at all, but man, Castillo really needs to stay on the field if he's going to save the Red Sox from their right field woes.
Eduardo Rodriguez, meanwhile, recovered from a rough third inning to have a decent day on the mound, but those watching say he's not really pitching as impressively as his results would suggest right now. That might explain the organization's reluctance to call him up, to say nothing for his simple lack of experience in Triple-A.
Portland L 8-9
Carlos Asuaje: 0-4, BB, K
Keury De La Cruz: 1-5, 2B, BB, 3 K
Salem W 8-2
Sam Travis: 3-4, BB, K
Wendell Rijo: 1-3, 2B, BB
Ty Buttrey: 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 5 K
Manuel Margot is missing with a sore shoulder, and has officially hit the disabled list, making Salem that much less interesting for the time being. Sam Travis is doing what he can to shoulder (sorry) the burden, and is back up around .300 after being dragged down by a few hitless games last week. The only thing that's been missing of late is the power, as he's produced just one extra-base hit in his last eight games.
