Red Sox vs. Orioles lineups: The conspicuous absence of Brock Holt

Brock Holt hit the game-winning three-run homer last night, but he's missing today.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

If you thought a game-winning homer in last night's game was going to be enough to earn Brock Holt another start somewhere...You were wrong!

Starting Pitcher -- Wei-Yin Chen

What gives? What's a guy gotta do? Chances are this has more to do with Allen Craig than Brock Holt. With the lefty Chen on the mound, this seems like a good time to get the right-handed Craig a start, even if it does come in right field.

Really, if anyone should be sitting out for Holt, it's Pablo Sandoval, who is generally weaker against lefties than righties. But he is not quite so inept against southpaws as, say, Daniel Nava, and there's some deference to be paid to the starter in that role. Some.

First ptich is at 7:05 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
