Rick Porcello to visit Dr James Andrews

Rick Porcello claimed he had elbow discomfort after his last start, and while his MRI was inconclusive, the groundballing phenom is following in the footsteps of so many other pitchers this spring as he visits Dr James Andrews on Wednesday.

John Farrell was quoted as saying:

Obviously it's a huge blow to the team, Rick's a great pitcher that we were really counting on for the season.

The Red Sox have already placed young catcher Christian Vazquez on the 60-Day Disabled list with an "elbow strain," and fifth starter Joe Kelly may also start the year on the DL. Porcello adds to the staggering number of pitchers with elbow injuries over the last two years, joining names like Zach Wheeler, AJ Griffin, and Jarrod Parker.
