Starting Pitcher -- Rick Porcello
With the split squad Red Sox picking up a pair of wins Saturday afternoon, the team is off the Grapefruit League schneid and up to .500, for whatever that's worth.
After skipping both games due to a shift in schedule, Christian Vazquez is back in action today opposite Rick Porcello on the mound. Chances are this move was intended to familiarize Vazquez with the pitchers new to the organization (he'll catch Miley on Monday) as much as possible, though it sounds like things are already going swimmingly with Porcello, at least.
With only Bogaerts and Vazquez there to represent the starters, Daniel Nava will slot in batting third. He's probably the one with the most at stake in today's lineup. It's hard to imagine a scenario where the Red Sox manage to fit both Nava and Allen Craig on the same 25-man roster, and if spring training results aren't really a useful predictor of regular season success, they still sway managerial decisions year in and year out. Nava is off to a decent start, but with Craig reaching base in all four plate appearances Saturday, the pressure is on.
First pitch is at 1:10 p.m. EST, with NESN providing its first broadcast of the year.
