Red Sox vs. Marlins lineup: Starting outfielders play, Nava at first

The starting outfield is in action along with David Ortiz Friday night, with Daniel Nava getting a chance to show he can handle first.

The Red Sox will welcome the Miami Marlins into JetBlue park Friday afternoon with a lineup featuring the starting outfield and David Ortiz:

Red Sox (0-1)

  1. Mookie Betts, CF
  2. Brock Holt, SS
  3. David Ortiz, DH
  4. Hanley Ramirez, LF
  5. Shane Victorino, RF
  6. Daniel Nava, 1B
  7. Ryan Hanigan, C
  8. Garin Cecchini, 3B
  9. Jemile Weeks, 2B

Starting Pitcher -- Justin Masterson

Lest we forget, the Red Sox and Marlins now have some spring training history between them after last year's silly lineup controversy. The Sox are certainly fielding a lineup with its fair share of real players this time around, but that's no surprise given that they're at home. For those wondering when they'll head off to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, mark March 24th on your calendars.

...Nobody? Well alright then.

There's not much to note in the lineup other than Daniel Nava playing first. That he, like Allen Craig, can play both the outfield and first is no small part of his argument for holding a roster spot over the aforementioned former Cardinal, with his numbers batting left-handed being the rest of it. With so many outfielders on the roster as is, don't be surprised if we see a lot of Nava at first base in March, since it's likely to be a bigger part of his job description in 2015 than in years past.

First pitch is 1:05 p.m. EST, but unless you're down in Florida that information won't do you much good, with neither a radio or television broadcast available for today.
