The Red Sox have an unusually strong lineup hitting the road Friday afternoon to face the Braves, featuring Dustin Pedroia making a rare appearance at DH.
Boston Red Sox (11-9)
- Mookie Betts, CF
- Dustin Pedroia, 2B
- Pablo Sandoval, 3B
- Allen Craig, 1B
- Daniel Nava, LF
- Rusney Castillo, RF
- Brock Holt, SS
- Blake Swihart, C
- Jeff Bianchi, 2B
Starting Pitcher -- Clay Buchholz
Probably not much to read into Pedroia not playing the field today. If there were any real concern there, he wouldn't be riding the bus for nearly three hours just to get to Champion Stadium (suddenly JetBlue Park doesn't sound so bad).
If there's anything of note here, it's that Mookie Betts and Rusney Castillo are playing together, and Betts is still the one playing center. Perhaps it's because the Red Sox don't want to move Betts around at all right now, or perhaps they actually think Castillo is better suited for right when they're both in the lineup due to his arm. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out come the regular season when the Sox are playing to win rather than just to prepare.
First pitch is at 1:05 p.m. with ESPN providing a television broadcast.
