Dustin Pedroia has been given the all-clear, and is back at second base to start Boston's series against the Blue Jays.
With Pedroia back in the two-hole, Mookie Betts is shipped all the way down to seventh, a victim of space constraints and perhaps even Brock Holt's seniority, however minor it may be. Betts is certainly hitting the ball better than Holt these days, but as we've said so many times before, these games don't matter enough to really be nitpicking stuff like that.
Which is good, because Allen Webster is starting and oh boy hasn't that just been a treat. Two straight six-run starts have wiped away any hope that Webster might at the very least be gaining some momentum after avoiding the big implosion for three games in a row. Just keep telling yourself the games don't matter...and then realize that it's a Friday and your time is maybe worth more than an Allen Webster start.
First pitch for those who disagree is at 7:10 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
