The Red Sox lineup is loaded with rookies these days, so there have been a lot of firsts for its players lately. On Wednesday, Garin Cecchini hit his first major-league homer, and on Thursday against the Rays once more, Christian Vazquez and Rusney Castillo matched him with their own first dingers.
Vazquez took Jeremy Hellickson deep in the second inning to give the Red Sox all the runs they would need on the night:
He didn't stop there, however, as Vazquez would collect four hits on the evening total, knocking two singles and a double to go with his first big-league long ball.
Castillo would similarly have a quality night at the plate, with his first double in the majors as well as this three-run Monster shot.
Hopefully, that's the first of many for the 27-year-old Cuban outfielder. He'll certainly get his chances, as he's signed for six years beyond 2014.
