The month of August has been Manuel Margot's month, but it just got a little better for the Red Sox top prospect.
Margot, who is in midst of a 13-game hitting streak after a 1-for-4 performance on Sunday, will be promoted to the High-A Salem Red Sox, a source told Over the Monster.
Ranked as the number six prospect in the Red Sox organization by Baseball America in their 2014 midseason update, Margot has torn the cover off the baseball in August, hitting .462/.509/.731 with eight extra-base hits heading into Thursday.
From Baseball America's midseason report:
The young, toolsy center fielder is right on schedule. Power isn't there yet, but it should come and he cut his strikeout rate while improving on the bases. Scouts watching him in the Sally League think he could develop into a top-tier everyday regular.
For the season, Margot is hitting .287/.356/.451 with ten home runs, 45 RBIs, 20 doubles, five triples, 49 strikeouts, 37 walks while also swiping 39 bases (75 percent success rate).
The 5-foot-11, 170 pound outfielder was signed as an international free agent in July 2011, receiving an $800,000 signing bonus.
