Red Sox minor lines: Lower levels run wild

Pawtucket was relatively quiet, but the lower levels were running all over the place in a 6-1 day for the farm system.

Pawutcket W 4-3

Mookie Betts: 1-4, A
Alex Hassan: 0-2, BB, K
Bryce Brentz: 0-3, K
Travis Shaw: 1-4, 2B, K
Garin Cecchini: 1-2, BB
Deven Marrero: 0-4, K
Blake Swihart: 1-4, 2B, K

Edwin Escobar: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR, E

The trio of pitchers the Red Sox picked up on deadline day have certainly been impressing. With Escobar's August starting as well as it has, it's going to take some kind of disaster finish to keep this from being by far his best month on the year.

Salem W 6-3 (In 7)

Carlos Asuaje: 2-4, 2 HR, K

Salem W 9-6 (In 7)

Carlos Asuaje: 3-5, 3B, 2 K

Pat Light: 5.1 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

Well, if Carlos Asuaje still felt the need to prove he was worth watching, it's going to be hard to do better than this day. With his OPS in Salem now even higher than his OPS in Greenville, it will be interesting to see if the Red Sox let him start 2015 in Portland. Given that he's a bit high on the age curve, it's certainly tempting to be aggressive with his promotions.

Greenville W 4-3

Manuel Margot: 2-4, 2B, 2 SB
Tzu-Wei Lin: 0-4
Wendell Rijo: 2-3, HR, BB, 3 SB
Sam Travis: 0-4, K
Cole Sturgeon: 0-3, K

Between Margot and Rijo, Rome's starting catcher Carlos Sanchez must have had one hell of a headache by day's end. While Rijo isn't exactly known for burning up the basepaths, Margot's pair of stolen bases leaves him one shy of 40 on the season.

Lowell W 3-2 (In 7)

Danny Mars: 0-3, BB, 2 K, SB

Lowell L 2-3 (In 8)

Danny Mars: 2-4, 2B, 2 K

GCL Red Sox W 15-3

Luis Alexander Basabe: 2-5, BB, K, 2 SB
Rafael Devers: 0-5, 2 K
Michael Chavis: 3-5, 3B, SB, E
Josh Ockimey: 2-4, BB, SB
Trenton Kemp: 1-3, 2 BB, K

15 runs and nothing from Rafael Devers? What sort of a cruel joke is this?! At least the rest kept up the stolen base theme to go with their many, many times on base.
