Red Sox minor lines: An ideal game in Greenville

New, 10 comments

It was a good day in the minor leagues for the Red Sox, but nowhere better than Greenville.

Pawtucket L 3-4

Mookie Betts: 2-3, BB
Alex Hassan: 0-4
Bryce Brentz: 0-3, BB, K
Garin Cecchini: 2-4, HR, SB
Deven Marrero: 0-4, 2 K

Does Garin Cecchini finally have something going on this year? He's 9-for-19, and holds an .803 OPS in August. Not amazing, but perhaps a start to a redeeming final month.

Portland L 4-5

Michael Almanzar: 1-5, HR, 2 K
Keury De La Cruz: 3-4, 2B, BB, K

Brian Johnson: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR
Noe Ramirez: 1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

This might actually qualify as a disappointing performance from Brian Johnson the way he's pitching right now.

Greenville W 8-1

Manuel Margot: 3-4, 2B, 3B, BB, K, CS
Tzu-Wei Lin: 1-4, HR, BB, K
Wendell Rijo: 1-4, K
Sam Travis: 1-4, 2B
Cole Sturgeon: 2-4, 2B

Teddy Stankiewicz: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 1 HR

This game is kinda excellent. Forget that everyone of note reached base safely. Tzu-Wei Lin hitting a homer ever is downright shocking. Then you've got Margot's hot streak continuing apace, and Teddy Stankiewicz maintaining a strong August performance that has him looking like the pitcher we expected to see this year. More of these games please, Greenville.

GCL Red Sox W 2-1

Rafael Devers: 0-4, K
Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-4, K
Michael Chavis: 1-4, 2 K
Trenton Kemp: 1-3, 2B, K

Michael Kopech: 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
