Red Sox vs. Angels: Playing again just a few hours later

New, 8 comments

The Red Sox are playing again, which seems odd since it's not a doubleheader and it seems like they just finished playing their last game.

Jim Rogash

Kelly Johnson and Dan Butler are in the starting lineup Sunday afternoon as the Red Sox finish their series against the Angels with a game starting not terribly long after last night's marathon ended.

Today's Lineups

BOSTON RED SOX LOS ANGELES ANGELS
Brock Holt - RF Kole Calhoun - RF
Dustin Pedroia - 2B Mike Trout - CF
Yoenis Cespedes - LF Albert Pujols - DH
Mike Napoli - DH Erick Aybar - SS
Kelly Johnson - 1B Howie Kendrick - 2B
Xander Bogaerts - SS David Freese - 3B
Will Middlebrooks - 3B Efren Navarro - 1B
Jackie Bradley - CF Chris Iannetta - C
Dan Butler - C Collin Cowgill - LF
Rubby De La Rosa - RHP Hector Santiago - LHP

Assuming nothing changes in the next couple of hours, Kelly Johnson will actually get an at bat with the Boston Red Sox which, frankly, is more than I would have expected when the team completed the Drew - Johnson swap right before the trade deadline. This, I suppose, is what happens when you play 19 innings. People get days off, in this case David Ortiz and, as likely would have happened anyway, Christian Vazquez.

It also means Jackie Bradley Jr. actually gets a start which, y'know, yay!

First pitch is at 3:35 p.m. ET with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
