Red Sox minor lines: Not that anyone's interested today

Hey, the minor leaguers played and--oh, you're gonna go talk about Jon Lester? Okay, that's...that's fine I guess.

Oh sure, right now minor lines don't seem all that interesting! Who cares about Blake Swihart when Jon Lester is about to be traded? But come Friday, when some shiny new name is hanging around in Pawtucket or Portland you'll all be crawling back here to--

Alright, I've gotten a bit off track.

Pawtucket L 4-6

Mookie Betts: 0-4
Will Middlebrooks: 1-3, BB, K
Travis Shaw: 1-4, HR
Alex Hassan: 0-4, K
Garin Cecchini: 1-4, HR, K
Deven Marrero: 0-4, K

Steven Wright: 6 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
Drake Britton: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Home run number 20 for Travis Shaw on the season. Remember when the power-hitter whose ability to cut it in the majors was questioned by scouts was a big deal in the system? I'm glad Shaw is an afterthought, albeit an interesting one, and not the highlight.

Portland W 2-0

Blake Swihart: 2-4, HR, K
Sean Coyle: 1-4, K, CS
Michael Almanzar: 1-3, BB
Keury De La Cruz: 0-3, K

Portland W 3-2 (In 7)

Blake Swihart: 1-2, BB, K, E
Sean Coyle: 0-2, BB, K
Keury De La Cruz: 1-3

Henry Owens: 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Portland L 1-4

Blake Swihart: 1-3, K
Sean Coyle: 0-3, 2 K

Then there's the slightly less powerful hitter (who is also two years younger, mind) who scouts very much expect to stick. Swihart has his OBP and SLG up to a nice even .360 and .500 respectively as he looks more and more like a finished product at

Salem L 1-5

Carlos Asuaje: 0-4

Sad Salem game is sad.

Greenville L 0-4

Cole Sturgeon: 1-4, 2 K
Wendell Rijo: 0-4
Manuel Margot: 0-2, BB
Tzu-Wei Lin: 0-3, E

Greenville L 4-8

Cole Sturgeon: 1-5, 2 K
Wendell Rijo: 0-5, 3 K

Ty Buttrey: 4 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 HR

Welcome back to Greenville, Ty Buttrey! Believe it or not, that actually pulls his ERA down a tad.

Lowell L 5-8

Danny Mars: 2-4, BB, 3 SB
Sam Travis: 4-5, 3B

Lowell L 1-4

Danny Mars: 0-3, BB, K
Sam Travis: 3-4, 2B

Kevin McAvoy: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Holy moly Sam Travis. Boston's second-round pick hasn't been consistent exactly, but the of what he might bring in the future have been...encouraging.

Also that makes just ten stolen bases for Danny Mars now. Which is not to say ten is too few, just that it seems awfully low for a guy who just swiped three in one game.

GCL Red Sox W 2-0 (In 7)

Luis Alexander Basabe: 0-1
Rafael Devers: 2-3, SB
Josh Ockimey: 0-3, 2 K

GCL Red Sox W 10-3 (In 7)

Trenton Kemp: 2-4, 2B, HR, K
Rafael Devers: 1-4, 2 K
Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-2, 2B, 2 BB
Michael Chavis: 1-4, 2B, CS, E

Jake Cosart: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

GCL Red Sox L 1-2 (In 7)

Rafael Devers: 0-3, K
Josh Ockimey: 0-3, K, E
Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-2, K, CS

Believe it or not, a fourth game here ended up suspended. Even when they're finally getting games in, the GCL can't dodge trouble.
