Red Sox vs. Blue Jays: What have you learned, Rubby De La Rosa?

Hopefully time will make all the difference for Rubby De La Rosa, who surrendered seven runs to the Blue Jays just five days ago.

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox and Blue Jays will play a game which we can all listen to in the background while obsessing over Jon Lester trade rumors since, let's be honest, that's what we care about right now.

Today's Lineups

TORONTO BLUE JAYS BOSTON RED SOX
Jose Reyes - SS Brock Holt - RF
Melky Cabrera - LF Daniel Nava - LF
Jose Bautista - RF Dustin Pedroia - 2B
Dioner Navarro - C David Ortiz - DH
Juan Francisco - 1B Mike Carp - 1B
Colby Rasmus - DH Stephen Drew - SS
Munenori Kawasaki - 3B Xander Bogaerts - 3B
Ryan Goins - 2B Jackie Bradley - CF
Anthony Gose - CF Christian Vazquez - C
Marcus Stroman - RHP Rubby De La Rosa - RHP

Mike Napoli is out for the second game in three days, which is...interesting given the recent comments from Mike Carp. One wonders if this is the Red Sox trying to find a trade partner for the disgruntled first baseman, or an attempt to appease him. It's been better than a week since the trade request went in, and we've seen no indication that anyone's interested.

Rubby De La Rosa, meanwhile, will have an unusual chance to show progress today as he takes on the same team that scored seven off him five days ago. We'll see whether or not the young righty shows any more variety in his pitch selection than he did then, and if so, whether or not it results in any greater success.

First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET
