Red Sox minor lines: All-Star breaks and rain

Even with two days worth of games, the schedule looks awfully short this time of year.

Portland W 6-2

Blake Swihart: 2-4, 2B, K
Michael Almanzar: 2-3, 2B, BB

Noe Ramirez: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K

It's pretty hard to get excited about Michael Almanzar given that he's been around forever and is only in Double-A. Still, the thing about being brought into the system as young as Almanzar was is that even six years later you're still only 23. Add to that the fact that the Orioles considered him worth a look in the Rule 5 draft and his generally positive return to Portland, and he's still worth keeping an eye on.

Greenville W 9-4

Wendell Rijo: 1-5, 3B
Manuel Margot: 1-2, SB

It's not clear why Margot came out of the game early. One hopes he'll be back in the lineup today.

Lowell W 8-5

Danny Mars: 3-5, SB
Sam Travis: 2-5

Ty Buttrey: 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

That's a really quick demotion for Buttrey. But if you can earn one in 11 innings, giving up 15 earned runs is certainly the way.

DSL Red Sox L 4-6

Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-5, K

DSL Red Sox W 8-3 (In 11)

Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-4, 2B, 2 BB

The other Basabe brother is missing in action once more, and Luis Alexander has had a couple of rough weeks. But he's not exactly producing lengthy 0-for streaks, so it's easy to imagine this is just a natural ebb in terms of production. The flow will hopefully come soon.
