Red Sox minor lines: Deven Marrero snaps his slump

Deven Marrero's fast start in Pawtucket seemed over after going 1-for-16. When you add in a 4-for-5 night, however, things don't seem so bad.

Pawtucket W 13-8

Alex Hassan: 3-6, 2B, HR, A
Travis Shaw: 2-4, 2B, BB, K
Deven Marrero: 4-5, 2 2B, K

Brandon Workman: 5 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR
Allen Webster: 4 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

Marrero had been mired in a 1-for-16 slump after a hot start in Pawtucket. Not anymore, clearly. Unfortunately our own pitchers were hardly immune, and while Allen Webster has a built-in excuse of being pushed into an unfamiliar relief role, Brandon Workman does not. One imagines he'd rather have avoided getting the extra work in down in Pawtucket.

Portland W 7-6

Blake Swihart: 1-4, HR
Michael Almanzar: 0-4, K
Keury De La Cruz: 0-1

Blake Swihart had two homers last year. 10 so far in 2014.

Greenville W 8-5

Cole Sturgeon: 1-4, K
Wendell Rijo: 1-4, 2B, K
Manuel Margot: 2-4, CS

Rijo was missing from the lineup for about a week there. He was on a little bit of a roll when last we saw him, too. One hopes the interruption won't change that.

Lowell L 1-6

Shane Victorino: 0-2, BB
Danny Mars: 2-5, 2B, K, CS
Sam Travis: 0-4, BB, 2 K
Nick Longhi: 0-3, BB

Kevin McAvoy: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Simon Mercedes: 5 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
