Red Sox vs. Indians: Daniel Nava yet lives

New, comments

It turns out Daniel Nava hasn't been devoured by hordes of the undead. He just hasn't been playing.

Al Bello

The Red Sox will try to dodge a sweep at the hands of the Indians Wednesday night, weather permitting.

Today's Lineups

Brock Holt - 1B Michael Bourn - CF
Xander Bogaerts - 3B A. Cabrera - SS
Dustin Pedroia - 2B M. Brantley - LF
David Ortiz - DH Jason Kipnis - 2B
A.J. Pierzynski - C L. Chisenhall - 1B
Grady Sizemore - RF David Murphy - RF
Stephen Drew - SS Yan Gomes - C
Daniel Nava - LF Jason Giambi - DH
Jackie Bradley - CF Mike Aviles - 3B
Brandon Workman - RHP Corey Kluber - RHP

I know what you're all thinking: "Didn't Daniel Nava get sucked into a black hole/eaten by mountain lions/run over by a very slow-moving steamroller/erased from existence by a time-travel accident/stepped on by a giant primeval monster awakened by man's hubris/frozen in liquid nitrogen/spit on by that one dinosaur from Jurassic Park?"

Why no, dear reader, it turns out he's alive and well! And look, there he is, starting in left field for the Red Sox assuming that the rain does not come to take him away from us.

If it doesn't, though, we'll have to contend with a fairly lopsided pitching matchup. All due respect to Brandon Workman, but if you take him over Corey Kluber on even money, then you're not the wisest of investors. The Red Sox can only hope that, as on Monday, the pitching matchup does not tell the whole story.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
