Red Sox minor lines: Deven Marrero bounces back

May was nothing but ugly for Deven Marrero, but he seems to have found his stride again in June.

Pawtucket W 9-4

Shane Victorino: 0-2
Mookie Betts: 2-6, 2B, K
Will Middlebrooks: 2-5, BB
Ryan Roberts: 2-6, 2 2B, K
Alex Hassan: 3-5, 2 2B, BB, K

Steven Wright: 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Drake Britton: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Pawtucket W 4-1 (In 7)

Mookie Betts: 2-4, K, 2 SB
Travis Shaw: 1-3, BB
Ryan Roberts: 0-2, BB
Christian Vazquez: 1-4, 2 K

Rich Hill: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

It's good to see a number in the .300s next to Mookie's name again. He's been spending more and more time in center field, too, and there have been few knocks on his performance out there.

Portland L 6-8

Deven Marrero: 3-4, BB
Blake Swihart: 2-5, K
Sean Coyle: 2-5, 2 2B, 2 K
Keury De La Cruz: 3-5, 2B, A

Portland W 5-1 (In 7)

Deven Marrero: 1-3, HR, K
Sean Coyle: 0-1, BB
Keury De La Cruz: 1-3

Noe Ramirez: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

After getting off to a hot start in April, Marrero started to look like his old self in May, hitting .227/.317/.364 with 32 strikeouts in 110 at bats. Whatever went so terribly wrong, however, the shortstop has certainly righted the ship of late. 13 games in June have seen him hit .358/.433/.528, striking out just five times while walking seven. It's about as complete a turnaround as possible, excepting his 1-for-5 record in stolen bases.

Lowell W 2-1

Nick Longhi: 1-4, 2 K

Lowell W 2-1 (In 12)

Sam Travis: 0-4

The new blood starts to arrive at Lowell. Should just get more and more interesting from here.

DSL Red Sox W 6-2

Luis Alexander Basabe: 1-5, K
Rafael Devers: 0-4, K

DSL Red Sox W 6-3

Luis Alejandro Basabe: 1-4, BB
Rafael Devers: 1-5, 2 K

Not a banner couple of days down in the DSL. On the bright side, the powers that be have separated the Basabe brothers, so that's less horribly confusing.
